CLUB PROFILE:
The Essex County ATV (ECATV) club was started in 2004 with the intention
of serving the ATV riders in Essex and Kent Counties. Initially the club
had troubles securing land use permission but that has changed with the
agreement for the use of 3 properties consisting of over 200 acres and
the potential to link to over 21 kms of trails. The club has been involved
in a Search and Rescue Training Program as has held a fundraiser for the
Amherstburg Food Bank raising over $2100. The club has 50 members and
is in good standing with the OFATV.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project proposal from the ECATV club involves three properties where
the bush lots are overgrown with hawthorn and rose bushes. In order to
remove the growth and avoid injury to volunteers, the removal will be
done with equipment. Once the trails are opened, volunteers will work
with the contractor to build 3 bridges, set the trail bed, provide the
appropriate signage and manage the warden program.
