CLUB PROFILE:
ATV Club of Eastern Ontario is committed to providing a safe environment to ride ATV’s. The club provides ATV safety riding courses, has trail wardens, and has a working relationship with municipal By-law officers for the Larose Forest and the Township of Clarence Rockland. The club has 120 km of trails which will soon double with the expansion into the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet. Trails are open 10 of the 12 months. The club has 208 members and was incorporated in January 2006.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project will be completed in two phases. Phase one includes the expansion of the trails from the Township of Clarence Rockland area into the Alfred-Plantagenet Township. This initiative will link the existing trails of Clarence Rockland to Alfred-Plantagenet for a distance of 22 kms. The trail travels mostly unopened municipal roads and municipal right of ways. Project involves clearing overgrowth, brush, rebuilding low areas and the rerouting of environmental areas through the use of culverts and bridges. This project has municipal approval and a supporting By-law for trail building.
Phase two consists of branching out off the main line to provide links to the villages of Alfred, Plantagenet, Lefaivre and Wendover. This phase involves clearing of overgrowth and brush, addition of fill to create a trail bed. Phases one and two will include the installation of OFATV signage.

AUTHORITY TO UNDERTAKE PROPOSED PROJECT:
All the proposed work will occur on municipal property and has been approved by the municipalities of Clarence Rockland and Alfred-Plantagenet. Land use agreement signed by the municipality is their written permission to undertake the trail building project. Written authority not included in club project submission but is available upon request.

INSURANCE WAIVERS FOR VOLUNTEERS:
OFATV insurance covering volunteers (members only) is sufficient to satisfy the municipality’s insurance requirement.

CONTRACTORS WSIB CERTIFICATE #:
Not applicable, as members will be volunteering the time and construction equipment as required.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
The club has been donated material to build a cottage for all trail users including walkers, cyclists and snowmobilers. The cost of the donated material is $2000 and will be constructed by ATV volunteers.

PROJECT PROMOTION:
The club will promote this project through media releases in the newspaper, ATVCEO website, membership drive and the erection of a 2 X 4 colorplast sign promoting the partnership between the COHV, OFATV and the ATVCEO.

OFATV REVIEW RECOMMENDATION:
Project submission is complete and the ATV Club of Eastern Ontario should be notified that they can proceed with their project.
